| Project Overview |
|
The 2007 Oregon Legislature created the Oregon Streetcar Project Fund for the purpose of financing grants to municipalities for purchase of contemporary rail-based streetcars used in public transit systems. The streetcars are to be purchased from an Oregon–owned and Oregon-based manufacturer. It is estimated that up to 300 permanent new manufacturing jobs may be created as a result of this project. There will be up to $20 million dollars of lottery backed revenue available for this project.
PTD’s current schedule is to have a hearing on the rules on March 21, 2008 with OTC approval at their April 23, 2008 meeting. Bonds are slated to be sold in the first quarter of 2009.
