Comprehensive Water Testing Results 

Media accounts of lead-tainted drinking water in public buildings prompted DAS to perform comprehensive water testing in all DAS-owned buildings in 2016.

DAS contracted with PBS Engineering and Environmental to perform water quality tests on all faucets and fountains in DAS-owned buildings across the state. Sampling methodology was based on EPA Guidelines, and mirrored testing processes used in Portland city and school facilities.

Test results returned in January 2017 showed elevated lead levels in only four faucets; two in Mahonia Hall, one in the Department of Revenue Building and one in the Portland State Office Building. All four faucets were immediately  taken offline, replaced and retested.
