Aurora State Airport Master Plan

The Draft Aurora State Airport Master Plan will be presented to the State Aviation Board for adoption at the Board's December 3, 2026 regularly scheduled public meeting along with the Board's State Agency Coordination Findings pursuant to OAR 738-130-0055. Written public comment will be accepted until November 3, 2026 and may be submitted by using the online form. Comments may also be submitted by email at mail.aviation@odav.oregon.gov, first class mail to: 3040 25th Street SE, Salem, OR 97302 or fax at (503) 373-1688. 

To ensure the Board has sufficient opportunity to receive, review and consider all public comments, written comments submitted after November 3 will not be accepted. However, you may also provide oral testimony at the December 3, 2026 hearing.

Airport Master Plan

Every airport owner/operator needs to look at the current use of their airport, its relationship to other airports, and expectations for how the airport will need to change in the future. This planning effort takes place every 10-20 years (on average) and helps the airport owner figure out what to study further, what to invest in, and what is crucial to fix for safety and operations.

The Airport Master Plan (AMP) is required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to maintain a safe and efficient airport that is economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable. The Airport Master Plan also: 

  • Defines the current, short-term and long-term needs of the Airport through a comprehensive evaluation of facilities, conditions and FAA airport planning and design standards. 
  •  Looks at what is happening around the airport that could affect the future plans, development and operation of the airport such as land use, transportation, environmental, economic development, etc.

When the project team sends Working Paper No. 1 to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for review, that is called a "review request." The FAA then provides comments. An updated document is sent for review, and the process continues through subsequent versions.
