Apply for Registration

Apply online at the Applicant Portal. This will require you to create a portal user account the first time you use the portal. With this account, you will be able to complete your application and track the status of your application after submittal. Payment of the application fee and any subsequent registration fee can be securely made through the portal. 

Continue down this page to find application forms that can be downloaded and completed offline if you are unable to apply via the online portal. Contact the Board office if you need an accessible form. Completed application forms should NOT be sent via email. Forms can be mailed to the Board office or contact the Board office to discuss other options. In this case, payment of the application fee can be made online through the "Make a Payment" option found in the menu along the top of the website, or a check or money order may be mailed to the Board office. 

​Application for initial registration generally refers to an individual's application for a first ever registration (license) to practice landscape architecture. An applicant for initial Landscape Architect registration must provide documentation demonstrating that the Board's minimum standards for education, exam, and experience have been met. Applicants for initial registration are also required to complete an oral exam process with the Board. An application for initial registration must be received no later than 15 business days prior to a quarterly meeting of the Board. Submittal at least 30 days prior to a quarterly Board meeting is highly recommended to ensure sufficient time for processing of your application. If an individual does not hold a valid (active and in good standing) registration to practice landscape architecture in another U.S. state or territory, then that individual's application must be processed by the Board as an application for initial registration.​

Application for Landscape Architect registration by reciprocity is for individuals registered (licensed) to practice landscape architecture in another U.S. state or territory that want to obtain registration to practice in Oregon. Your registration in the other U.S. state or territory must be active and in good standing at the time of application to the Board. You also must provide documentation demonstrating that you meet the Board's minimum education, exam, and experience standards. Applicants for Landscape Architect registration by reciprocity are not required to complete an oral exam before the Board. Your application can be submitted at any time and, upon verification of completeness, will be reviewed as received.

If an individual does not hold a valid (active and in good standing) registration to practice landscape architecture in another U.S. state or territory, then that individual's application must be processed by the Board as an application for initial registration.​

​An individual can apply to the Board for the LAIT registration upon passage of any two sections of the LARE. The LAIT is a title use registration, not a practice registration. The LAIT must be working under the supervision and responsible charge of a Registered Landscape Architect. The Registered Landscape Architect must sign annual renewal forms for the LAIT as verification of ongoing supervision. Your application can be submitted at any time and, upon verification of completeness, will be reviewed as received. ​
