The
Land Conservation and Development Commission (LCDC), with support from DLCD, consults with and receives feedback and recommendations from a number of different advisory committees. Some advisory committees are required, and some are engaged by the department to provide feedback on specific issues or rulemaking efforts.

Rulemaking Advisory Committees
Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 183.333 requires state agencies to include the public in the development of public policy and drafting rules whenever possible. This is accomplished by creating a rulemaking advisory committee (RAC). The committee appointed must represent the interests of people likely to be affected by the rule. Community Involvement Advisory Committee (CIAC)
The purpose of Goal 1 in the statewide land use planning program is to include community engagement and feedback in land use planning. Required in
ORS 197.030, the LCDC's CIAC makes recommendations to both LCDC and DLCD to help improve community engagement in the land use planning process.

Local Officials Advisory Committee (LOAC)
LOAC provides advice to DLCD and LCDC from a local government perspective on the policies and programs affecting local governments, as required in
ORS 197.165.

Ocean Policy Advisory Council (OPAC)
The Oregon Ocean Policy Advisory Council (OPAC) is the legislatively mandated marine policy advisory body. It provides, among other things, advice to the Governor, state agencies and local governments on ocean policy and resource management matters. DLCD provides staff support to the OPAC, which meets twice a year.

Grants Advisory Committee
The Grants Advisory Committee provides guidance in its Grants Allocation Plan to DLCD and LCDC on matters related to the DLCD Technical Assistance Grants Program, ORS 197.639.
