Local Officials Advisory Committee

The Land Conservation and Development Commission (LCDC), with support from the department, consults with the Local Officials Advisory Committee (LOAC). Per ORS 197.165, the committee promotes mutual understanding and cooperation between the LCDC and local government in the implementation of ORS chapters 195, 196, and 197 and the goals. Members of the LOAC are appointed by the commission. Membership is intended to reflect the city, county, and geographic diversity of the state.

Per LOAC By-Laws, Article I Section I, LOAC is comprised of persons serving as city or county elected officials. LOAC members are appointed to four-year terms.

January 2026

DLCD and LCDC are currently seeking a county elected offical  to volunteer as a member of the state's Local Officials Advisory Committee (LOAC). If you wish to apply, the application is located here.

  • Volunteers must be current elected officials
  • LCDC appoints committee members to four-year terms, up to eight years total.
  • Committee members must be available for quarterly videoconferencing meetings and have sufficient time for the committee's work.

The application period is open now through February 8, 2026 11:59 p.m.

LOAC will present their recommended candidate to the commission for their appointment at the February 26-27, 2026 meeting.
