Local Government Program Partners

The Oregon Coastal Management Program (OCMP), consists of a network of partners with authority in the coastal zone. There are 7 oceanfront counties and 33 cities in the Coastal Zone, and all are coastal program partners. The local comprehensive and estuary plans of these jurisdictions are elements of the coastal program recognized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Cities

Oregon's coastal cities plan for growth, approve development, and provide essential public services to residents and businesses inside urban areas. Cities also protect key coastal resources through planning, zoning, and other regulations.

Counties

Oregon's coastal counties plan for growth, approve development, and provide essential public services such as housing and economic opportunities to residents outside city limits. Counties also provide coordination for certain planning activities, conserve farm and forest lands, and are responsible for protecting key coastal resources through estuary plans.
