After you report a change
We will review your case to see if your SNAP benefits should go up, down or stay the same. We'll
explain anything that changes.
If you don't report a required change
We know reporting changes can be hard during times of stress, illness or crisis. If you miss reporting a required change, we may need to:
- Adjust or stop your SNAP
- Set up an overpayment
- Start an Intentional Program Violation process if a change was not reported on purpose
If this happens, we'll explain the next steps and your rights. You can always ask questions or ask for help.
Changes that are helpful to report (not required)
If you tell us about these changes, it helps avoid delays and keeps your benefits correct.
- If you move because of rising rent, housing changes or wildfire evacuation
- If you change your phone number or email address
- If someone moves in or out of your home
- If you start or stop a job, including part-time jobs or gig work like food delivery
