As you browse through the example projects highlighted in this open house, you will read about how they seek to provide benefits for Oregonians. Each project included in the CIP offers community benefits in at least one of five categories: Safety, Stewardship and State of Good Repair, Mobility and Accessibility, Sustainability and Climate, and Equity.
These projects enhance the safety of our roads for people who drive, walk, bike, and roll in our communities.

Taking care of the transportation system we already have is one of ODOT’s highest priorities. Maintenance and preservation work together toward that goal at different scales - keeping roads, bridges and other infrastructure in good condition and extending their useful life.
Maintenance generally addresses ongoing and more routine needs that keep the system functioning, while preservation generally involves larger investments that help protect infrastructure and avoid more costly repairs or replacement later.

Mobility projects
help ensure freight can move through our system quickly and efficiently, bringing commerce and economic growth to Oregonians.
Accessibility projects
provide better, safer, and more equitable access to our transportation system for people who walk, bike, roll and ride transit.

These projects seek to address climate and environmental-related impacts, such as flooding, wildfires and erosion, and to ensure Oregon remains a beautiful place to live for humans and wildlife.

These projects help people access the transportation system and other essential services they need.
