Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements

Expanding Options for Biking, Walking, and Rolling

This project includes targeted improvements to local bicycle and pedestrian routes, in partnership with City of Beaverton and Washington County. The improvements will complete the north/south parallel bicycle and pedestrian network as well as make key enhancements to east/west routes.

New Sidewalks and Bike Lanes on Hall Boulevard in Beaverton

We’re building new sidewalks and bike lanes on the Hall Boulevard overpass between Cascade Avenue and Scholls Ferry Road in Beaverton by widening the bridge. When the work is done, the overpass will be 19 feet wider. This extra width allows space for a new sidewalk and bike lane on the north side of the overpass and a new bike lane on the south side of the overpass. Currently, there are no marked bike lanes on this overpass and there is a sidewalk on just one side. These will provide a much-needed connection for people bicycling, walking and rolling between Scholls Ferry Road and Cascade Avenue and allow all travelers more space to cross the overpass safely.

  • ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION: One of the two westbound lanes on the Hall Boulevard overpass is closed for several months to provide crews with the space they need to finish widening the overpass.
    • Crews will keep traffic moving in both directions on Hall Boulevard during the work. Both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane will remain open.
    • The lane closure spans from Scholls Ferry Road to Cascade Avenue. Exact boundaries may change as the work progresses.
    • We are rebuilding the existing section of sidewalk along the north side of Hall Boulevard, including the driveways into the Progress Plaza parking lot.  At least one driveway will remain open throughout construction for accessing the plaza.
    • Check tripcheck.com before you leave for up-to-date traffic impacts.

New Sidewalk on North Side of Denney Road

We’re widening the sidewalk on the north side of Denney Road from the Fanno Creek Trail to 105th Avenue. After completion, there will be a 12.5-foot sidewalk along Denney Road in that section.

This work is under active construction. The new sidewalk is expected to be completed in the first half of 2024.

Cross section. The north sidewalk is 12.5 feet. There are 2 westbound lanes and 1 eastbound travel lane.

Extending the Fanno Creek Trail

We’re extending the Fanno Creek Trail along the east side of OR 217 to Allen Boulevard. This is a section that is currently missing and will complete the OR 217 parallel bike path network from OR 99W to Allen Boulevard.
