High Visibility Enforcement Program Areas

The goal of the Distracted Driving Program is to ​educate people about the dangers of driving distracted with the goal of reducing crashes, injuries and deaths on Oregon's roads.

​​The goal of the Impaired Driving Program is to reduce drunk and drugged driving through education, law enforcement and public outreach.​

The goal of the Police Traffic Enforcement Program is to address risky driver behaviors as listed in the National Roadway Safety Strategy which outlines:​

  • ​​Safer People: Encouraging safe, responsible behavior by all road users. 
  • Safer Roads: Designing, building, and maintaining roadways to mitigate human error. 
  • Safer Vehicles: Expanding advanced safety technologies and features to prevent crashes. 
  • Safer Speeds: Promoting reasonable speeds through thoughtful design and enforcement. 
  • Post-Crash Care: Improving the survivability of crashes through faster, better medical response.

The Oregon Pedestrian and Bicycle Program provides resources to help the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) achieve its mission to “provide a safe and reliable multimodal transportation system that connects people and helps Oregon's communities and economy thrive.” The goals of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Program are to reduce crashes involving people walking and biking, eliminate crashes that result in injuries and deaths, and promote walking and biking to improve health and safety.​

The goal of the Safety Belts and Car Seats Program is to educate people about the importance of using safety belts​​ and to provide information about child passenger safety with the use of car seats and boosters. The program also provides information about local car seat clinic events and car seat technician training along with media campaigns that remind everyone to "buckle up every trip, every time".
