2026 Oregon Main Street Deep Dive
Oct. 7-8, 2026
Makers on Main
Online
Long before Main Street became known primarily for shopping, dining, and entertainment, it was home to blacksmiths, furniture makers, tailors, and countless other tradespeople whose skills shaped the local economy. These businesses didn't just sell products; they created them in storefronts where customers could witness craftsmanship firsthand, making downtowns centers of innovation as well as commerce. Today’s Makers often see potential where others see vacancy, transforming historic storefronts and underutilized spaces into hubs of entrepreneurship, artistry, and connection while preserving the character that makes Main Street unique. This creates a mutually beneficial partnership in which Makers gain business visibility, customers, and community support, while Main Streets gain the energy, investment, and authentic experiences that help downtowns thrive.
The 2026 Oregon Main Street Deep Dive explores how Makers and Main Street thrive together. We'll examine how communities can support creative entrepreneurship, activate downtown spaces with maker culture, and build stronger local economies by turning craft and creativity into opportunity. From storefront studios and workshops to production spaces and maker collectives, we'll explore how communities can cultivate environments where makers flourish, downtowns grow stronger, and local identity shines.
