Work underway on projects to improve state parks

In 2021, the Oregon Legislature approved $50 million in general obligation bonds (GO Bond) proceeds for OPRD, an incredibly generous act to revitalize state parks and campgrounds. GO Bonds are a one-time infusion of funding that can support large-scale projects. Multiple projects across Oregon are either completed or underway, improving Oregon's state parks. Typically, park improvements are funded by Oregon Lottery dollars and revenue from visitor fees and happen over time in smaller pieces.

OPRD is focusing on construction projects that extend the life of existing facilities rather than adding new facilities. Additionally, the approximately $15 million of remaining GO Bond funds will support reducing the maintenance backlog to help preserve existing infrastructure.

The links below go to web pages for each projects. Each page includes a summary of the park, park overview, project schedule, and possible disruptions to park operations. Check back to watch our progress as milestones are met and to see next steps. OPRD is supplementing the cost of some of the remaining work using its capital improvement funds (received from Lottery funds and Park fees).
