Powder River Correctional Facility 20th Anniversary

On Tuesday, Nov. 17, Powder River Correctional Facility (PRCF) will celebrate its 20th Anniversary. PRCF, which opened in Baker City Nov. 15, 1989, was the first correctional facility to be built in Oregon since 1959, and was part of the largest prison expansion program in the state at the time.

30% Earned Time Credit
The 2009 Legislature approved HB3508 which allows certain inmates to receive 30% Earned Time Credit.
Victims' Services
Oregon has a variety of crime victims' services. One is VINE, which is designed for all citizens needing information about offenders' status.
Inmate Services Unit
The Inmate Services Unit is responsible for a broad variety of services to institution staff, inmates and their families in support of the Oregon Accountability Model and the Counselor Caseload Initiative.

Governor Kulongoski has signed "Go Oregon!" into law, authorizing the sale of bonds to fund important maintenance and construction projects at public facilities througout Oregon. Of the $175 million in total statewide projects, DOC will receive just under $6.7 million to fund 10 agency projects.
