James di Properzio
James di Properzio
James di Properzio is a writer and editor whose recent book (co-authored with Jennifer Margulis) is The Baby Bonding Book for Dads:  Building a Closer Connection to Your New Baby.  His experience with his four children's births informed the book and his interest in serving on the Board of Direct Entry Midwifery.
"My wife and I dedicated ourselves to learning all we needed to evaluate whether there was a problem during labor that would require going to the hospital, and established our contingency plans," says Mr. di Properzio.  "With that in place, we felt that we greatly benefitted from homebirth, and we are committed to supporting safe and knowledgeable homebirth as an option for others."
Mr. di Properzio earned a Bachelor's of Arts in History of Mathematics and Sciences from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD, and was a doctoral student in the Department of Philosophy at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where he also taught Existentialism and Phenomenology, Introduction to Ethics and Philosophy of Literature.
Since 1999, Mr. di Properzio has worked as a freelance writer, editor, consultant and grant writer, serving a diverse clientele of magazines, science writers, universities, and businesspeople. He has also worked as an editor at Merriam-Webster Dictionary, and as a scientific editor at International Science Services.
