  • Polysomnographic Technologist Licensure Begins in 2012, Required by 2013
    Pediatric Sleep
    Passage of Senate Bill 723 in the 2011 Legislative Assembly established the Respiratory Therapist and Polysomnographic Technologists Licensing Board. As a result of the legislation, the Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) may begin licensing polysomnographic technologists as of January 1, 2012. Polysomnographic technologists are required to be licensed by January 1, 2013.

  • Answers to Questions about Polysomnography Licensure

    With licensure of polysomnographic techologists required beginning January 1,
    2013, the Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) has produced a question-and-answer fact sheet to assist applicants in the licensure process.

  • Respiratory Therapists Treat Cardiopulmonary Abnormalities

    Respiratory therapists, or respiratory care practitioners,provide treatment to patients with abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system—or breathing disorders—under the direction of a licensed physician and as part of a health care team.


    Respiratory therapists work at hospitals, clinics, nursing care facilities, in private care facilities and commercial businesses that specialize in the treatment, management, diagnostic testing, control and care of patients with breathing disorders that range from chronic lung conditions such as asthma, bronchitis and emphysema to heart attack and accident victims.
