  • Upcoming HLO closures for state holidays

    Mark your calendar and note that the Health Licensing Office (and all State of Oregon agencies) will be closed Friday, July 3 for Independence Day and Monday, Sept. 7 for Labor Day.

    Examinations will not be offered, and licenses will not be issued on these days.

    Our regular office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Feel free to call 503-378-8667; calls will be returned the next business day. You can also email hlo.info@state.or.us.

  • Members sought for BARB rules advisory committee
    A Rules Advisory Committee is being formed to provide consultation and recommendations to the Health Licensing Office (Office) and the Behavior Analysis Regulatory Board. The RAC will meet from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 4, 2015, at the Health Licensing Office in Salem. A teleconference option will be available for RAC members only. 

    The composition is:
    1. Oregon Association for Behavior Analysis (2 representatives who practice behavior analysis)
    2. Autism Speaks (1)
    3. Oregon Insurance Division (1)
    4. Insurance plan representative (1)
    5. Autism Society of Oregon (1)
    6. Consumer/parent of someone who uses ABA services (2)
    7. Public member (1)
    8. Faculty member from a 4-year accredited university with a program in behavior analysis (1)
    9. Behavior Analysis Regulatory Board member (1)

  • Health Licensing Office Legislative Update

    Oregon Capitol at sunsetOregon’s 2015 Legislative Session began on February 2, 2015. While the Health Licensing Office (HLO) did not put forth any bills to amend statutes, there are several bills sponsored by other interested parties that may impact boards under the jurisdiction of the Health Licensing Office.

  • Expedited licensing available for military

    Permanent administrative rules became effective on September 17, 2014, allowing for an expedited process for individuals who have military training or experience for an authorization to practice a profession listed under ORS 676.583 or ORS 676.800.

    Permanent administrative rules became effective on September 17 allowing for an expedited process to obtain an authorization to practice for military spouses or domestic partners as required by 2013 House Bill 2027.

    The Health Licensing Office (HLO) is a central licensing and regulatory agency that oversees multiple health and related professions. HLO protects the health, safety and rights of Oregon consumers by ensuring only qualified applicants are authorized to practice.  HLO reviews and approves applicant qualifications, conducts examinations, inspects thousands of licensed facilities and independent contractors, responds to and investigates consumer complaints, and disciplines licensees who are found in violation of state requirements.
