Public comment welcomed on potential new charging sites

ODOT's EV Corridor Connectivity Project Virtual Open House

TIGER II Project, Phase 2: Potential EV Charging Station Host Sites
Welcome to the Virtual Open House for Phase 2 of the TIGER II project! In Phase 2, we will be deploying 11 West Coast Electric Highway EV Charging Stations. After conducting research on potential host sites within the 11 targeted communities, we came up with the following potential sites to host these West Coast Electric Highway stations.
Using the Host Site Specs (pdf) we developed with the Washington State Department of Transportation, we analyzed each host site, including  multiple site visits. Target sites will be facilities which offer access to a restroom, appropriate lighting, easy access right off the highway system, and close proximity to ancillary services, such as restaurants, coffee shops, tourism hot-spots, museums, etc. Each host site will agree to host one EV fast-charger and one Level 2 charger, which are located on a 3' by 3' concrete pedestal alongside one another.
An EV can charge at the fast-charger at the same time as another EV charging at the Level 2 charger. A fast-charger can charge up the Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-Car, EVs with approximately 100 miles of range, in 10-25 minutes. A Level 2 charger can charge up a Chevy Volt, Toyota Plug-in Prius, Ford Focus, and many more in anywhere from 2-4 hours.
These 11 stations are connected to the larger West Coast Electric Highway EV charging network which spans the state of Oregon, up and down Interstate 5, the West Coast's main transportation artery, and along arterials extending over the Cascades, up and down the coast, throughout Oregon Wine Country, and along the Columbia River Gorge.

Review and comment through April 19

This Virtual Open House is "open" until April 19, 2013. If you have an EV, check out our latest map that has information on available chargers. We have completed 27 stations and are under construction at 3 more. We look forward to hearing your input and will keep you abreast of any future updates and opportunities for involvement!
