Statewide Sustainability Officer, Department of Administrative Services
As Statewide Sustainability Officer for the State of Oregon, David provides technical and program resource conservation services to tenants in Department of Administrative Services buildings, all other state agencies, local governments, and the public. He collaborates with the Governor's Office on executive orders and state policy, and coordinates statewide enterprise efforts for implementation of sustainability practices across Oregon state government. David facilitates the Inter-agency Sustainability Coordinators Network and supports the Oregon Sustainability Board. In addition to his work at the state of Oregon, over his 25 year career David has been a journalist, researcher and sustainability consultant in both the U.S. and Australia.
Steven Markham
Statewide Sustainability Analyst, Department of Administrative Services
Steven supports the Office of Sustainability by providing research, policy analysis, communications, stakeholder engagement and planning support to DAS and other agencies across the enterprise. Steven promotes existing sustainability initiatives and policy, as well as helps develop new initiatives. He also supports the Interagency Sustainability Coordinators Network (ISCN) and the Oregon Sustainability Board with logistics, agenda and program development and strategic facilitation as needed.
Steven's 35-year career has led him up through ranks of the HVAC industry, starting as a helper and working his way through into management. For the State of Oregon, he has served in prior roles as a refrigeration technician and energy analyst, putting his hands-on and technical skills to use in informing research and policy development.
