Project Management Templates

Project Charter

A project charter is a formal document that marks the launch of a project, validates a project's existence, and provides the project manager with the authority to apply organizational resources to project activities. Charter templates for both small and large projects are available:

Project Schedule

A project schedule outlines the planned start and finish dates for project tasks and milestones. It serves as a roadmap for project execution and monitoring.

The project schedule template can be used in Excel or can be imported into Smartsheet. Based on the columns in the provided template, Microsoft Project can also be used to build the schedule.

Project Logs

Project logs are ongoing records used to track and manage key project information. These logs help maintain transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle. Core and optional log templates are available:

Integrated Project Plan

An integrated project plan is a comprehensive document that consolidates all subsidiary plans (e.g., scope, schedule, cost, quality, communication, risk, procurement, and stakeholder management) into a single, cohesive plan. The integrated project plan spells out the HOW in each plan section.

Project Status Report

A project status report is a regular update provided to interested parties that summarizes current progress against the plan, completed and upcoming tasks, issues and risks, budget and schedule status, and key decisions or changes. What is included in the status report is based on the project. A discussion with the project sponsor and the project management office staff is recommended to decide what to report on. The goal is to break down the project to the key areas to update over time.

Two status reports are available:

The project status report templates can be used in Excel or can be imported into Smartsheet.

Closeout Report

A closeout report is a final document prepared at the end of a project that includes a summary of project performance, lessons learned, final deliverables and acceptance, and recommendations for future projects. The closeout report reflects to the project charter. It closes what the team set out to do in the charter.
