We encourage the use of I.R.I.S for individuals looking for public record information.

Records available in I.R.I.S:

  • Private Investigator Name
  • Private Investigator ID number
  • Licensure (certificates)
  • Training history
  • Attributes (application deficiency information)

To print the information displayed in I.R.I.S, use the "Transcript" button to select the information you would like to print, then select the "Print" button to print the information displayed.

Employment and Agency Records

DPSST does not regulate private investigator employers. Details displayed under the Employment tab and Agency column in I.R.I.S, does not include private investigator employment nor does the status column reflect a status of their license. You must click on the certification tab to view licensure status (active or inactive is not a status of a license).

The information shown may instead reflect employment as a private security provider. For details about private security certifications or licensure, please use the Private Security IRIS for more information.

Looking for Records not available in I.R.I.S?

Records that have passed the required retention period as designed by the Secretary of State's Archive Schedule have been purged and will not be viewable in I.R.I.S.

If you cannot find the information you are looking for, please submit a public records request.
