Background Check Information

All applicants are reviewed to ensure that they meet the standards for licensure established by the Policy Committee and the Board.  Applicants are reviewed for moral fitness per OAR 259-061-0040 (2)(a) through (E) and for mandatory criminal disqualifiers per OAR 259-061-0300.   Moral fitness is based on Character, Honesty, Striving for Justice, Public Trust and Respect for the laws and constitutions of this state and nation.   The Program may also review criminal dispositions which have been dismissed, especially in instances of theft, to determine if the individual meets moral fitness standards.

If you are unsure if a court disposition is disqualifying, please contact the Program to inquire before submitting an application as application fees are non-refundable.
