50th Anniversary of Oregon’s Land Use Planning Program

The Oregon Legislature signed Senate Bill 100 into law on May 29, 1973. 2023 marks the 50th Anniversary of Oregon's land use planning program and the establishment of the Department of Land Conservation and Development and the Land Conservation and Development Commission.

For 50 years DLCD has worked in partnership with local governments to create and foster the unique quality and character of Oregon's natural and built environment. Managed urban growth; protected farm and forest lands, preserved coastal and natural resource areas; and livable communities have become hallmarks for Oregon.

Hear from leaders in our field and explore land use planning successes across Oregon.

DLCD has built a social media campaign toolkit to help our partners celebrate Oregon's 50 years of leadership in land use planning.

The campaign's elements collectively celebrate the diverse voices, planning successes, and unique landscapes that make Oregon Oregon.

This campaign offers an opportunity to educate Oregonians on the impact of our state's half-century-strong commitment to land use planning, highlighting areas of focus such as resiliency, housing, climate change, equity, natural resource protection, economic development, and urban design.

The toolkit is designed to provide you, our partners, with all of the materials you'll need to effectively engage your constituents throughout this anniversary year. You’ll find assets designed expressly for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, email campaigns, and even virtual meetings. Throughout 2023, we will continue to upload and share additional media for use on your social media platforms here.

Share the campaign through whichever platforms best suit you. Use your favorite examples of draft text exactly as they're written, edit them to suit your own voice, or start from scratch by writing your own. Use the hashtag #SB100at50 to connect your social media posts to the campaign.

Each post is made up of three slides: A still quote, an audio clip, and then the SB100 anniversary logo.

Products in DLCD's online store are available through a print on demand service. DLCD does not realize any profit from these items, they are being sold at cost.
