Grants funding is an important part of the work performed by the Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD). The Community Grants page goes into detail about the different kinds of grants the department offers and what they can be used for. General fund grants, those appropriated by the legislature as part of the department budget each biennium, are awarded with input from the Grants Advisory Committee.
The Grants Advisory Committee is advisory to the department and the Land Conservation and Development Commission. The committee has a membership that represents of a broad group of land use stakeholders. Per ORS 197.639, the committee must include members from the
League of Oregon Cities, the
Association of Oregon Counties, metropolitan service districts, the
Special Districts Association of Oregon, land use planning public interest groups, and developer interest groups. Each biennium, the Grants Advisory Committee, along with the Land Conservation and Development Commission, creates a Grants Allocation Plan. This plan sets priorities for grant funding and is used as guidance by the department when allocating the money.
