Youth Property and Packages

​JWTP provides all youth with these items:

  • Bed and bedding
  • Clothing: undergarments, t-shirts, sweat pants, jacket/hoodie, rain coats, socks, shoes, shorts, bras
  • Undergarments (if you prefer that your youth have their personal undergarments, you may provide them, if you first get approval from their treatment team)
  • Shoes: shower shoes, tennis shoes
  • Hygiene products: soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, comb, shampoo, conditioner, laundry soap, or other specific items as needed
  • Feminine hygiene products (we provide as many tampons, sanitary pads, or pantyliners as youth need)
  • Towels
  • Religious items (if youth ask for them and the items are approved by managers) 

​No Approval Needed for These Items

When you come to JWTP for a visit, you may bring the items listed below for your youth, with no approval needed. All items must be clearly marked with the youth’s name.

  • Food or drinks for use on unit: Non-perishable, pre-packaged items only. Protein drinks are not allowed. It is each youth’s responsibility to make sure they don’t have more items than they can fit into their canteen tote.
  • Hygiene items and makeup: No liquid eyeliner. Makeup must be new and unopened. These must fit into the youth’s hygiene tote with the lid shut. Glass containers are not allowed. Medications or medicated products are not allowed — this includes prescriptions and over-the-counter items.
  • 1 book or magazine: This must fit in the youth’s dorm tote with the lid shut. It may not contain content that is overtly sexual or depicts substance use/abuse, gangs, or illegal activity.

Approval Needed for These Items

You may also provide these items to youth when you come for visiting, but only with prior approval from JWTP managers. If you send or bring them without prior approval, you will have to take them home. We will not do approvals on the spot when you arrive.

  • Clothing and shoes
  • Arts and crafts supplies
  • Jewelry
  • Music CDs and DVDs (no burned CDs or R-rated movies; if our staff feel the content of the CD or DVD is inappropriate, we will not give it to your youth)
  • Photographs
  • Small radios (no Bluetooth, wireless, or connection to internet)​

​All packages must be approved by the camp counselor or assistant camp director before you send them.

Packages that are not pre-approved will be returned to sender.

Please do not wrap gifts — this is for the safety of all our youth. You may put the gifts in unsealed decorated gift bags or boxes.

Youth are not allowed to have these items:

  • Gum
  • Aerosol containers
  • Vitamins, dietary supplements, and protein shakes
  • Liquid eyeliner
  • Bobby pins
  • Used makeup
  • Bluetooth, wireless, and other items that can connect to internet
  • Other contraband items, including but not limited to:
    • Weapons
    • Explosives
    • Medications and medicated hygiene products
    • Photos with chemical substances on the back
    • Alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco products, vaping products, and edible marijuana products
