Renew a License

When do I renew?

  • Even-numbered licensees renew in odd years, and odd-numbered licensees renew in even years.
  • Renewals are due by the last day of your birth month. For example, if your license number is even and your birthday is March 12th, then you must complete your online renewal by March 31st each odd year.
  • Renewal notices are sent via email only, 45 days prior to the due date, with reminder sent 30 days prior to the due date.  Please refer to the Renewal Schedule.  Note that the portal does not open up for renewal until it is 45 days prior to your due date.
  • Licensees are highly encouraged to set up self-reminders of renewal deadlines to help avoid late fees and license lapses. Please refer to the Renewal Process Visual.

How do I renew?

  • Login to the Licensee Portal and click on the "License Renewal" left-side menu option.
  • Review our New Licensing System page for information on the new portal, including how to login for the first time and troubleshooting issues.
  • All renewal requirements must be completed before the Board can renew a license:
    • Complete each section of the online renewal, including the character & fitness questions.
    • Completion of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Healthcare Workforce Survey.  The online renewal will route you to the survey, and you must return and complete your renewal process afterwards.
    • Renewal payment that includes the OHA survey fee.
  • Your CE reporting period is the same as your license renewal period.  See Continuing Education.
  • Late and incomplete renewals are subject to the delinquent fee (up to 30 days late) and reinstatement requirements (up to 60 days late).
  • The Board does not send paper or digital license copies.  You can login to the License Portal to download your license card or a receipt for your renewal payment.

Has my renewal processed yet?

Renewals are typically processed immediately, but it may take longer if you have an atypical renewal (e.g., a "yes" response to a character and fitness question).  Once renewed, your updated license expiration date will display on the Online License Search. Please note that even if a license appears to be expired because it shows past the expiration date, it may still be processing. There is a 30 day grace period, so a license remains valid for 30 days past the stated expiration date.  After that, the status will show "Expired."

Method of Payment

You may pay by card with your online renewal.  Cash and checks are not accepted.
