DOC Statewide Awards 2009
Directors Award
During National Correctional Employees Week, May 3-9, the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) honored some of the outstanding work done by DOC staff, contractors and volunteers during 2008.

DOC statewide awards are given in recognition of outstanding accomplishments, dedication and commitment. The award recipients are leaders in doing the right thing. They promote DOC's mission, vision and values. They embody the Oregon Accountability Model. They serve as positive role models - not only for the people with whom they work, but also for the inmates in DOC custody.
Department of Corrections
Mission
The mission of the Department of Corrections is to promote public safety by holding offenders accountable for their actions and reducing the risk of future criminal behavior.
Victims' Services
Oregon has a variety of crime victims' services. One is VINE, which is designed for all citizens needing information about offenders' status.
Inmate Services Unit
The Inmate Services Unit is responsible for a broad variety of services to institution staff, inmates and their families in support of the Oregon Accountability Model and the Counselor Caseload Initiative.

Governor Kulongoski has signed "Go Oregon!" into law, authorizing the sale of bonds to fund important maintenance and construction projects at public facilities througout Oregon. Of the $175 million in total statewide projects, DOC will receive just under $6.7 million to fund 10 agency projects.
H1N1 (swine) Flu
Flu virus
The Oregon Department of Corrections' (DOC) response to the national H1N1 (swine) flu outbreak has ended. Based on advice received from the Oregon Health Division, DOC will continue to monitor the wellness of inmates and staff, but no additional action will be taken at this time.

The purpose of wellness promotion is to improve the health and well-being of Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) employees' lives through health education and workplace health promotion activities that will support positive lifestyle changes.
