  • Registration Required for Oregon Athletic Trainers
    Athletic Trainer
Athletic trainers prevent, recognize, and evaluate athletic injuries and provide immediate care, rehabilitation and reconditioning services to athletes. Oregon law requires athletic trainers to be registered and meet state-established professional standards.

The Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) oversees regulation of athletic training and other health and related professions.

  • Exemptions to Athletic Trainer Registration

From other health care providers to federal government employees to students and elementary or secondary school teachers, coaches or volunteers, individuals may be exempted from registration as an athletic trainer.

However, none of these exemptions allow those individuals to publicly promote themselves as registered athletic trainers with the State of Oregon.
