  • National Nurses Week, National Correctional Officers and Employees Week, and Public Service Recognition Week
May 7-13 was a huge week for the department – National Nurses Week, National Correctional Officers and Employees Week (NCEW), and Public Service Recognition Week.

With all the award ceremonies, barbeques, wellness activities, and fun happenings around the state, the Executive Team had the chance to join in the fun too. As they made their way around the state they laughed, ate, and even kissed a pig!

Two of our own were invited to join the Governor’s signing of the State Employee Recognition Day proclamation - you can still catch the feed. Make sure you look for DRCI Sergeant Mark Hall and OSP Correctional Officer Elias Otero (on the right side of the video).

Also, so many incredible and hilarious pictures were captured – in fact, too many to share. Make sure you go and check them out on our DOC Facebook page.

Each one of our team members makes important contributions to helping the adults in our custody and those on supervision prepare to become productive citizens. This work does not go without notice, and we hope they felt the gratitude over the week and let it continue throughout the year.
