Chlorpyrifos workgroup

The Oregon Department of Agriculture’s (ODA) Chlorpyrifos workgroup will advise the Department on potential limitations to the use of chlorpyrifos in Oregon beyond the limitations specified on product labels. The goal for this committee is to explore appropriate science-based restrictions on products containing chlorpyrifos that protect public health and safety while fulfilling critical pest control needs of land managers.

Members of the advisory committee include leaders and experts from a wide cross section of interests, including agriculture, environmental justice groups, and a farmworker health and safety organization. The committee's work will be transparent, collaborative and include inclusive communication, consistent with ODA’s mission and strategic plan objectives. 

Permanent rule impacting the use of aminocyclopyrachlor on specific sites

On May 9, 2019, the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) adopted OAR 603-057-0392, a permanent rule limiting the use of the herbicide aminocyclopyrachlor (ACP) on certain sites and prohibiting the use on others.

Temporary Rule Prohibiting the Use of Aminocyclopyrachlor (ACP) on Rights-Of-Way

On September 28, 2018, ODA enacted a temporary rule prohibiting the use of any pesticide product containing the active ingredient aminocyclopyrachlor on right-of-way (ROW) sites, OAR 603-057-0391. The Temporary Administrative Rule will be in effect for 180 days, September 28, 2018-March 26, 2019.

Additional regulatory action may take place before or after the expiration date of the temporary rule.
