Work Zone Traffic Control

ODOT uses traffic control methods, like signs and cones, to direct traffic through work zonesThe Oregon Department of Transportation develops and maintains traffic control standards and practices for use on construction projects and maintenance operations.

Traffic Control Plans

A traffic control plan is required for any temporary activity that will disrupt the normal flow of traffic on a highway.

The primary function of the plan is to allow safe and effective movement of public traffic - including vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians - through or around the work zone, while providing an equally safe and efficient work space for highway workers.
