The PDMP was designed to help health care providers and pharmacists provide patients better care in managing their prescriptions, giving them more complete information to help assure appropriate use of certain prescribed medications.
How it works
Pharmacies contribute data to the program on certain prescription drugs dispensed to patients. The protected health information is collected and stored securely and unauthorized people cannot access individuals’ personal prescription records.
