Oregon Psilocybin Services - What are Psilocybin Services?

Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in over 200 species of mushrooms. Research suggests that psilocybin may help address depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has designated psilocybin a 'breakthrough therapy' for the treatment of depression. Although psilocybin services are now a health and wellness option in Oregon, psilocybin is still a Schedule I substance under the federal Contolled Substances Act (CSA).

In Oregon, "psilocybin services" refers to preparation, administration, and integration sessions. While no prescription or referral from a medical or clinical provider is necessary, a client must be 21 years of age or older and is required to complete a preparation session with a licensed facilitator. The client will only access psilocybin at a licensed service center during an administration session in the presence of a trained, licensed facilitator. Integration sessions will be made available to each client after an administration session.
