FirstHome Household Targeted Areas

HUD identifies specific neighborhoods as Targeted Areas to promote economic development and expand access to homeownership. Buying a home in a Targeted Area offers key advantages: higher income limits, increased purchase price caps, and expanded eligibility for previous homeowners, making it easier for more households to qualify.

To determine eligibility, review the county-level chart below. This chart will help you confirm whether a property qualifies for Targeted Area benefits under the FirstHome product and outlines household income by household size.

Quick steps

  1. Go to the FFIEC website and enter the property address using the Geo Map Tool.
  2. Note the property county and Census tract.
  3. Use FirstHome Household Targeted Income Limits chart:
  • Locate the property’s county.
  • Check the tract details column:
    • If listed, you are in a Targeted Area. Use the chart below to find income limits by household size.
    • If not listed, switch to the Household Non-targeted Areas webpage.
