Direct Access

What is Direct Access

Under Oregon’s Electric Restructuring law, all nonresidential consumers have the ability to purchase electricity from a Public Utility Commission-certified electricity service supplier (ESS) other than their current utility, which is known as Direct Access. Direct Access is an option at your disposal, but no electric utility customer is required to choose Direct Access service. Should you choose direct access, your local service provider is responsible for the distribution of services, while the ESS would be responsible for the generation and transmission services.
