  • Interested in participating in OReGO?
RUC174.jpgOReGO is Oregon’s Road Usage Charge Program. Our state is pioneering a usage based charge to replace the state gas tax at myOReGO.org. After two pilot projects in 2007 and 2012, the Oregon Legislature passed a law in 2013 to conduct a 5,000 vehicle volunteer program implementing a per-mile charge as an alternative to the gas tax. This volunteer program starts July 1, 2015. Sign up for the interest list today.
  • Transportation funding has local impacts

2014SOSCover.jpgTransportation funding for cities and counties is not keeping pace with maintenance and preservation needs. Cities have funding for about 30 percent of their transportation maintenance needs. Read more about this in the State of the System report (page 30).

  • March is National Engineers Month
Visiting a school.National Engineers Month is a chance for ODOT’s talented staff to give young minds a glimpse of potential career opportunities. This year, we have planners, archaeologists, engineers and others visiting classrooms all over the state, making a difference along the way. Learn more about the STEM Connect Program, read a story from last year's visits.
  • Prevent drowsy driving!
Driver with seat beltAs we "spring forward" on March 8 for the switch to daylight savings time, it's a good time to prevent drowsy driving. Disrupting our normal routines can create hazards on the roads. Get a good night’s sleep: While this varies from individual to individual, sleep experts recommend between 7-9 hours of sleep per night for adults. Be aware of one another: bicyclists, pedestrians and drivers should be aware that drowsiness could be in play, especially the first few days after the time change.
