CAD v2024 Upgrade

The Engineering Applications Support Team is working on the next CAD software upgrade from the 2023 versions to the 2024 versions. The upgrade to Bentley View v24.00.02.023, MicroStation v24.00.02.062, OpenSite Designer v24.00.01.062 (2024 Update 1), OpenRoads Designer v24.00.01.062 (2024 Update 1), and OpenBridge Modeler v24.00.01.053 (2024 Update 1) is planned to be completed by mid-June 2025.

The CAD workspace updates will be suspended following the April update and will resume once the software upgrade has completed.

Resolved - Extreme Slowness Opening CAD Applications

If you are 1) internal to ODOT, and 2) having CAD applications take longer than 90 seconds to open, you may be experiencing extreme slowness that has been fixed on other ODOT computers! A solution for your computer is waiting to be installed in your computer's Software Center.

To do this yourself: exit all applications (this will restart when it is done), run the Clear_Prefs shortcut in your desktop Engineering folder, then open the Software Center. Choose "Delete WDAC Policy" from the Applications area and [Install]. You will be prompted to restart when it finishes.

Engineering Tips Webinar

The Engineering Applications Support Team hosts a weekly webinar on Engineering Tips. Topics will include different versions of engineering software and operating systems that ODOT currently uses or will use in the future, as well as workflows.

We will send out emails with a subject line beginning with Engineering Tips to the Engineering Users MicroStation email distribution list. Please feel free to submit suggestions for topics, too, by emailing odot.east@odot.oregon.gov with a subject line of Engineering Tips Topics.

2023 City/County PDFs for Vicinity Maps

City and County PDFs for 2023 that contain the layers needed to adjust the project location map are stored in \\gis_resources\6211shar\ Atlas_CAD_2023, for ODOT users only. Copy and paste the URL into File Explorer.

Sub-folders with "Reduced" in the name contain smaller file-size maps with the same content which may be easier to use. The workflow is explained in Title Sheet Creation.pdf.

The CAD Manual, the overarching reference document for CAD standards is found on the Drafting and Contract Plans Program web page. Manuals for other disciplines and the Roadway CAD Manual are also available on the same page.
