There are several training options available for Oregon Ethics Law. OGEC currently offers Ethics Law trainings in-person, online, and via hybrid formats.

Ethics Law Training Frequently Asked Questions 

There is no statutory requirement for Ethics Law training, but some public officials (like state employees) are required by their public body to take training. Please check with your public body or agency for these requirements. 

It depends on what you're looking for! OGEC offers several trainings on Ethics Law, including:

  • a monthly New Employee Orientation 
  • a monthly Conflicts of Interest and Prohibited Use of Office webinar

The length of an Ethics Law training depends on which training you choose. Here's an overview of some of our most common trainings: 
  • Gifts webinar: 60 minutes 
  • New Board, Commission, and Council Members webinar: 90 minutes
  • New Employees webinar: 90 minutes
  • Conflicts of Interest and Prohibited Use of Office webinar: 90 minutes 
  • on-demand Ethics Law overview course: 90 minutes 
Our in-person trainings will depend on the training selected, ranging from 60 to 150 minutes.
