Frequently Asked Questions

If you are already receiving Lifeline service, but you want to change to a different service provider, call 800-848-4442 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or send an email.

  • If your Lifeline phone stops working, or is lost or stolen

  • If you prefer to use your own phone rather than the free phone issued by your Lifeline service provider

To maintain the free Lifeline service, you must make a call, send a text, use data, or buy additional minutes or data at least once every 30 days. If you do not, you are at risk of having the free Lifeline service canceled.
