    License plate with closure DMV will be closed for the mandatory statewide closure day and the holiday
    Friday, May 25, is the fourth of 10 statewide mandatory unpaid closures scheduled in the 2011-13 budget period as a state government cost-cutting measure. Offices will also be closed Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day. However, you still can do some business with DMV by mail or online.

    All customers can change their address and report the sale of a vehicle using DMV's online services. Most customers (if stated on the renewal notice) can renew their vehicle registrations online. Save yourself a trip and go online instead!
  • DMV offices close in Portland and Eugene

    DMV closed its last two express (limited service) offices, located in Tanasbourne and the Valley River Center, and switched its Sherwood office schedule from Tuesday - Saturday to Monday - Friday. All three changes took place in mid-May.
  • Commercial drivers to see new medical card rules
    Semi-truck Proof of Medical Certificate Required
    Starting January 30, 2012, Oregon DMV will require commercial truck and bus drivers to submit a photocopy of their medical certificate to continue holding a commercial driver license. The new requirement is part of federal safety regulations aimed at making sure CDL holders are medically fit to operate commercial vehicles.

    All applicants for driver licenses, instruction permits and ID cards (including renewals and replacements) must present proof of their full legal name and U.S. citizenship or lawful presence in the United States. It can take weeks to obtain some of the documents you'll need to meet the new laws, so don't wait until your license or ID card expires.
