Contractors licensed through either the Landscape Contractors Board (LCB) or the Construction Contractors Board (CCB) may perform certain types of landscape-related construction work.
This includes planning, installing, maintaining, or repairing arbors, decks, patios, driveways, fences, retaining walls, walkways, landscape edging, or ornamental water features.
Residential General Contractors licensed through the CCB may perform limited landscape work when they are under contract to build a new residential dwelling.
However, the following limitations apply:
- Irrigation work is not allowed under this exception.
- The total value of landscape work cannot exceed $4,600 per residential dwelling.
Residential General Contractors may plant street trees for new residential construction when required by local building codes or occupancy ordinances. However, irrigation work is not allowed under this exception.
