Helping people receiving benefits

During the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE), the federal government provided regulatory flexibilities and temporary programs. This includes:

  • Continuous health coverage for people participating in the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) or Medicare Savings Program (MSP)
  • Services and supports for people with disabilities and older adults
  • Extra food benefits.

Some of these flexibilities and temporary programs will end as the federal COVID-19 PHE phases out.

Oregon is planning for how these changes will affect people. Our goal is to keep as many people as possible connected to benefits and covered by a health plan.

What partners can do now

Partners are trusted messengers in our communities who can help people get important information about their benefits.

To help people prepare, partners can:

  • Remind people receiving benefits to verify or update their contact information or report any changes:
    • Options for updating information are available here: oregon.gov/or-benefit-changes.
    • If you are an OHP-certified Community Partner or Coordinated Care Organization, you can help people verify or update their contact information.
  • Encourage people receiving benefits to watch for and open mail from the state and respond to any requests for information quickly.
