  • Governor Kitzhaber Signs Proclamation for "Missing Children's Awareness Day" on May 25
    Governor John Kitzhaber joined child safety advocates around the nation by signing a proclamation announcing May 25, 2013, at "Missing Children's Awareness Day" in Oregon. During the month of May, families around the country are encouraged to take 25 minutes to talk to their children about safety and abduction prevention as part of the Take 25 (www.Take25.org) national child safety campaign. May 25 has been observed as National Missing Children's Day since it was first proclaimed in 1983. You can read the proclamation here

In February 2012, Oregon State Police, along with other state agencies including Oregon Office of Emergency Management, have been working together on issues related to Japanese Tsunami Marine Debris beginning to appear along the Oregon coastline.
