Oregon Health Plan (OHP) and COVID-19

OHP Members Are Covered

Have OHP and need to a test for COVID-19? It’s covered. Need a vaccine or to stay in the hospital because of COVID-19? That’s covered, too.

Traveling out of state? Emergency testing and hospitalization for COVID-19 is covered.

Have Citizenship Waived Medical (CWM)? CWM is emergency-only coverage.

  • CWM covers testing, treatment, hospitalization, vaccines and vaccine booster doses for COVID-19.
  • You do not need to use an emergency department to get these services.

Have CWM Plus? CWM Plus is OHP coverage for CWM members during pregnancy.

  • CWM Plus coverage will continue until you renew your OHP. Learn more about renewing your OHP.
  • CWM Plus covers COVID-19 testing, treatment, hospitalization, vaccines, and vaccine booster doses.

Need health coverage? Apply for OHP today or use the Getting health coverage in Oregon guide to see what coverage is right for you.

COVID-19 Vaccines and Booster Doses Are Free.

OHP and CWM members do not have to pay a visit fee or make a donation to get a COVID-19 vaccine or booster.

COVID-19 Information

Members will receive a notice between April 2023 and January 2024. This is to see if you still qualify for OHP after the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency ends.

Make sure you get the letters we send: Report any address change to OHP. You can report changes in one of the following ways:

  • Use your ONE account to report changes online.
  • Visit an ODHS office. Find your local office.
  • Call 800-699-9075 and report changes over the phone.
  • Call your coordinated care organization or a local community partner.

OHP members can get many prescriptions by mail.

Ask your pharmacy if they can mail your prescriptions for free. If your pharmacy won’t send your prescriptions:

You can set up appointments, talk to your providers, and get care without leaving your home. This is called “telehealth” and it’s free for OHP members.
  • Talk to your doctor or other providers about making a telehealth appointment.
  • You can also ask your CCO
  • If you need an interpreter or help in another language or format, tell your provider. They are there to help.

OHP members who want to deliver their baby outside of a hospital can ask for a community (out-of-hospital) birth. They need to ask their doctor, midwife, or other provider.

To prevent exposure to COVID-19, OHP made some changes to the process for asking for community (out-of-hospital) births.

  • Before, you could only get approval if you were fewer than 27 weeks, 6 days pregnant. Now you can get approval up to the 38th week of your pregnancy.
  • There are also changes to the list of risks that require a hospital delivery. Ask your provider about what has changed and what will work best for your delivery.
