Agency Overview and Mission

Mission Statement 

The mission of the Oregon Medical Board is to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of Oregon citizens by regulating the practice of medicine in a manner that promotes access to quality care.
 
The Board licenses the following health care providers: 
 
Medical Doctors (MD)
Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Podiatric Physicians (DPM)
Physician Assistants (PA)
Acupuncturists (LAc) 
 
In addition to its licensing functions, the Board conducts investigations, imposes disciplinary action, and supports rehabilitation, education, and research to further its legislative mandate to protect the citizens of Oregon. The Oregon Medical Board is also responsible for establishing the scope of practice for Emergency Medical Services Providers.
 
The Board is privileged to work with Oregon's physicians, podiatric physicians, physician assistants and acupuncturists, who constitute one of the finest groups of health care professionals in the country.
