Every county has a juvenile department, which typically oversees youth who’ve committed offenses but are working on treatment while still living in their community. If a youth is committed to OYA, they are taken out of their home and placed in either a facility, residential program, or foster home. Occasionally, if a youth has proven themselves responsible toward the end of their time with OYA, they can be allowed to move back home.
OYA works closely with county partners to share case planning, ensure efficient services, and reduce recidivism.
