Proposed rulemaking

Rulemaking contact: Debra Sturdevant, 503-229-6691

Outstanding Resource Waters are high quality waters that constitute an outstanding state resource due to their extraordinary water quality or ecological values, or where special protection is needed to maintain critical habitat areas. The law authorizes the Environmental Quality Commission to adopt administrative rules and policies to designate and protect these waters. OAR 340-041-0004(8). In response to a citizen petition, DEQ is proposing to adopt rules and policies designating Waldo and Crater lakes as Outstanding Resource Waters. DEQ will hold advisory committees meetings, publish draft rules and accept public comments, and then present the proposed rules to the commission for adoption.

DEQ has appointed an advisory committee to assist DEQ in drafting rules through which DEQ will designate Waldo and Crater Lakes as Outstanding Resource Waters.
