Oregonians have a strong recycling ethic, and by recycling right, we’re able to reduce the amount of energy required to make new products, reduce pollution and creates jobs. In Oregon, we recycled 1.4 million tons in 2016, which yielded a reduction of 2.9 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions, which is comparable to taking 690,000 cars or their tailpipe emissions of the road!
How do I recycle right?
It’s more important than ever to understand what recyclable materials are accepted and what doesn’t belong in your recycling bin. Your city, county or recycling service provider will have information about what items belong in your curbside collection service. In the greater Portland area (Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties), you can visit the Metro website
or call the Metro Recycling Information hotline at 503-234-3000.
