Waldo and Crater Lakes Outstanding Resource Waters 2020

In response to a citizen petition, the Environmental Quality Commission adopted rules and policies designating Waldo and Crater lakes as Outstanding Resource Waters. Outstanding Resource Waters are high quality waters that constitute an outstanding state resource due to their extraordinary water quality or ecological values, or where special protection is needed to maintain critical habitat areas. The law authorizes the Environmental Quality Commission to adopt administrative rules and policies to designate and protect these waters. OAR 340-041-0004(8). 

​​DEQ has appointed an advisory committee to assist DEQ in drafting rules through which DEQ will designate Waldo and Crater Lakes as Outstanding Resource Waters.
