In Oregon, people get their drinking water from groundwater, lakes, and rivers. The state's Drinking Water Source Protection Program, a joint program by DEQ and the Oregon Health Authority, helps communities keep these water sources safe from contamination and reduce water treatment costs. It provides information and tools for water systems and communities to protect their water quality. DEQ and OHA encourage local, preventive strategies to make sure Oregon's drinking water stays safe for the future.
